At Serendipity, we understand the importance of connections and bringing people together. We have engineered an amazing ability to do a billion calculations in a millisecond! And we are providing this feature to all of our users. So first off, what is the 6 degrees of separation.
Six Degrees of Separation Explanation
The theory goes that there are six degrees of separation between any two people on the planet. Say you want to know your connection to our former president Barack Obama. We can use an example of a person name Ali. Ali knows a woman named Soraya. Soraya's husband knows the Barack Obama's former Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel. And Rahm knows Barack Obama. So in this example there are 4 degrees of separation between Ali and former President Barack Obama. Ali's 1st degree connection is Soraya. Soraya's husband is Ali's 2nd degree connection and Rahm Emmanuel is Ali's 3rd degree connection so President Barack Obama will be Ali's 4th degree connection.
How Do I View the 6 Degrees?
To view the way you are connected to others is to do the following:
- Navigate to the profile page of the person who you want to view.
- On the bottom right is an icon showing two people with arrows. Click on that.
- Then at the bottom in the middle you will see where it shows a degree. This will show the lowest degree connection you have with that person.
- If you click on that degree in the white circle, it then opens up to show all the different degrees up to six degrees. Simply click any of the degrees and it will display the various ways you are connected to that person.
- click on the most bottom line and click on a connection. Then all the other lines above that connection will drop off to show you the exact way you are connected to that person.
- To reset the screen, on the bottom left are two yellow circular arrows. Click on that and it will reset that page.
- Its that simple! Have fun exploring all the people you know and the various ways in which you are connected to each other.
